Hainish EncyclopediaHainish Encyclopedia
One of the intelligent species on Rocannon's World From Rocannon's World

Fiia (singular Fian): Highly intelligent, fully hominoid, diaurnal, av. ca. 130 cm. in height, observed individuals generally light in skin and hair. Brief contacts indicated villages and nomadic communal societies, partial colonial telepathy, also some indications of short-range TK. The race appears a-technological and evasive, with minimal and fluid culture-patterns. Currently untaxable. Status E-Query.

They appear to be friendly, sometimes a bit like children. They have no great love for the Gdemiar. Long ago the Gdemiar and the Fiia were one folk, but now the Fiia live above ground, loving the sun and the trees and the grass, while the Gdemiar live in caves, building machines and working mines.
